Cacao ritual

Cacao prayer

We call upon you, Great Spirit of Cacao.

We humbly ask you to be our ally, and walk with us in harmony and balance.

Enter our hearts, and help us expand our capacity to love and connect with one another.

May we learn from your mysteries as we receive your medicine, with gratitude and respect, for many years to come.

Aho.

Take a moment to slow down, prepare your cacao with intention and return to the present.

You do not need to create the perfect setting or follow every step. Your ritual can be as simple as preparing your cup with care, taking a few conscious breaths and giving yourself permission to be fully here.

Your cacao ritual

Choose your serving

15 to 20 g A gentle everyday cacao

20 to 25 g A fuller personal ritual

45 to 50 g A ceremonial serving

If this is your first time drinking pure cacao, or you are sensitive to stimulants, begin with a smaller serving. You can always adjust the amount as you become more familiar with how cacao feels in your body.

This is where intention becomes ritual.

How to prepare your cacao

  1. Chop the cacao into small pieces.

  2. Gently heat your water or plant-based milk, without bringing it to a full boil (180 to 200 ml water per serving).

  3. Add the cacao.

  4. Stir or whisk over low heat, until smooth and creamy.

  5. Add your chosen spices or sweetener. Think: cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, chilli, or your preferred sweetener

  6. Pour your cacao into your favourite cup.

  7. Pause, take a breath, and choose your intention.

Your five-minute ritual

Find a quiet place where you can be undisturbed for a few minutes.

Hold your cup with both hands and take three slow breaths.

Notice the warmth of the cup, the aroma of the cacao, and the way your body feels in this moment.

Choose an intention for the time ahead.

Drink slowly, without distractions.

As you drink, notice what you feel, what you think, and what you may need.

When you finish, write down anything you would like to remember or carry with you into the rest of your day.

Presence isn't found. It's practiced.

Choose your intention

What would you like to invite into this moment?

Presence: To return to where you are.

Clarity: To listen beyond the noise.

Gratitude: To recognise what is already here.

Courage: To take the next honest step.

Openness: To make space for something new.

Connection: To meet yourself and others with care.

Release: To gently let go of what you no longer need.

Trust: To move forward without needing every answer.

Journal with your cacao

You do not need to answer every question. Choose the one that speaks to you today.

  • What intention do I want to carry with me after I finish this cup?

  • What has been taking more of my energy than it deserves?

  • What is one thing I want to let go of today?

  • What would make today feel meaningful?

  • Where in my life am I being invited to trust more?

  • What am I grateful for that I may have overlooked?

  • If I listened to myself without fear, what would I do next?

  • What kind of person do I want to be today?
